Business environment in Peru

Despite recent political instability, Peru has robust, independent, macroeconomic institutions (led by the Central Bank) that strongly favour business-friendly policies. The country offers opportunities in many sectors. Significant investments in infrastructure and technology, specifically, are essential for Peru to maintain growth and improve social welfare.

The Canada-Peru Free Trade Agreement has further strengthened a well-established and growing trade and investment relationship that in recent years, has seen Canada become one of the top foreign direct investors in the country’s mining sector. Export Development Canada (EDC) serves Canadian companies in Peru through our local representation in Santiago.
