Pierre Matuszewski was appointed to EDC’s Board of Directors in June of 2018. With over 40 years of experience in the Canadian financial services industry, principally as an investment banker, he held various roles since 1997 with Société Générale (Canada), a schedule II Canadian chartered bank part of Société Générale S.A., an international bank headquartered in Paris. He was also the first Canadian to lead the Canadian operations of Société Générale when he took over as president and CEO in 2009, a position he held until 2018. He has been a director of a number of profit and not-for-profit institutions including Arion Orchestre Baroque, Société Générale (Canada) and New Look Vision Group, a publicly listed company. He is currently also a director of The Canadian Investor Protection Fund, FinDev Canada and is Vice-Chair of the Board of Governors of McGill University. In addition to a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Université Laval and an MBA in Finance and Accounting from McGill University, Pierre holds numerous professional coaching and leadership certificates from institutes and universities. He is a past Chair of FEI (Canada) and a former Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces (Reserve). He has his own executive coaching practice. In 2021, he was elected Councillor of the Village of Senneville, a community on the outskirts of Montréal. In 2022, he completed the ESG designation program from Competent Boards.
