Mélanie Carter is National Lead―Agri Food Ecosystem at Export Development Canada (EDC), where she works across the organization and with industry, financial, and government partners to support Canada’s agri‑food export ecosystem and strengthen collaboration across the sector.
With over 20 years of experience at EDC, Mélanie has held roles spanning business development, knowledge partnerships, and exporter engagement, driven by a strong belief in the potential of Canadian exporters and a commitment to supporting their growth, resilience, and success in international markets. This perspective has shaped her leadership approach, and she is recognized for building and leading high‑performing teams, and for driving execution through collaboration, clarity, and accountability in matrixed environments.
Throughout her career, Mélanie supported Canadian exporters across multiple sectors by delivering financing solutions and risk‑mitigation tools to support their international activities. In her current role, she brings this first‑hand experience to the agri‑food sector by working with partners and stakeholders across the ecosystem to help create the conditions for exporters’ international success.
Bilingual in English and French, Mélanie is based in Ottawa.
