George Monize has over two decades of experience in executive leadership, strategic business development and key relationship management.
As Managing Director and Head of Indo-Pacific deployed to Singapore, his mandate is at the core of EDC’s long-term vision – building EDC’s and Canada’s trade business in the Indo-Pacific region. From expanding EDC’s physical presence in the region to building EDC’s only independent branch outside of Canada, his responsibilities include creating new export and investment opportunities for Canadian companies. All while championing EDC’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) vision and plan.
Since joining EDC in 2020, George has held senior leadership positions, including most recently Vice-President, Indo-Pacific and Vice-President, Global Business Development. A strategic thought leader, he was accountable for EDC’s international operations including global strategy and delivery and the management of all international relationships. Prior to this, he was Vice-President of Sales Excellence and led several key areas and initiatives core to EDC operations including the product innovation, change management, reporting and analytics, sales enablement.
Before joining EDC, George was the Head of Channel & Partner Relations at Chase Payment Solutions (a business division of JPMorgan Chase). In this role, George led the overall sales and distribution strategy for the business.
George is a founding member and co-chair of EDC's first Black Employee Resource Group (BERG) created to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and help foster professional development of EDC's Black community. He is also a mentor in York University’s “Advancing YU” program matching promising third- and fourth-year Black and/or women students with successful alumni for mentorship and skills development.
George is currently a board member of the Canada China Business Council and Canada-India Business Council and maintains strong ties with key business councils globally.
