Indonesia is the largest economy in Southeast Asia and has been growing more than 5% annually for the past 10 years. With more than 270 million inhabitants, the country is Canada’s largest trading partner and top investment destination in the region. Indonesia’s growing middle class provides opportunities for Canadian exporters and investors in areas of Canadian strength, including cleantech and renewables, infrastructure, and agriculture and agrifood. Despite ongoing challenges, Indonesia’s business environment continues to improve, leading to a higher position in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business Index.
