Bulgaria is an upper-middle-income European Union (EU) member with a stable, open economy focused on manufacturing, energy and information and communications technologies (ICT). While not yet an Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member, Bulgaria is actively pursuing accession, aiming for full membership by 2026. As an EU member, trade and investment with fellow member states is of high importance to its economy. There are opportunities in a range of sectors, including agriculture, cleantech, energy and ICT.
