David Gauthier has worked for Export Development Canada (EDC) for more than 25 years in various credit roles. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), he earned his bachelor of commerce from the University of Ottawa and completed the EDC Lean Green Belt Program on an internal transformation project.

Currently, Gauthier is a principal underwriter for the International Financing Guarantee (IFG) team at EDC. This team supports predominantly small- and mid-sized exporters by issuing guarantees on loans provided by Canadian banking partners. In his role, he assists Canadian banks in structuring transactions, educates partners on our Export Guarantee Program (EGP), authorizes transactions and provides guidance on the direction of the program.

Before his current role, Gauthier held underwriting positions on several EDC product teams, including Credit Insurance & Underwriting (CIU), International Trading Guarantee (ITG) and Corporate Lending. He also has significant experience with merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions, as his team frequently receives requests for support in this area from banking partners. Over the past few years, the number of M&A transactions in his space has greatly increased.
