Awovi Komassi is the ESG Advisory Services lead on the ESG Growth Advisory team at Export Development Canada (EDC).
With more than a decade of experience encompassing environment, social and governance (ESG) regulation analysis and compliance, ESG strategy development and implementation, and sustainability operational management and support, Awovi has worked with small, medium, and large companies worldwide, including Canada, Ghana, Guinea (Conakry), Kenya, Togo, and the United States.
Awovi regularly speaks on topics such as sustainable business practices and environmental education for youth in French-speaking countries in Africa. Her expertise also led her to be nominated as a lead author of the United Nations Environment Programme’s Global Environment Outlook-6 (GEO-6), youth edition for Africa, in 2019.
Prior to joining EDC in 2021, Awovi was an ESG consultant at a Montreal-based consulting firm where her clients included government agencies, along with several international and national companies across a variety of industries, including renewable energy, transportation, aeronautics, pharmaceutical and mining.
Awovi has a bachelor of law from the University of Quebec in Montreal and a master’s degree in environment management and public policy from the University of Sherbrooke.
